The Royal Corps of transport was formed
in 1965 , previous to this it was named Royal Army Service Corp. Battle
Honours for the Corps. are the Peninsula War 1808, 1814, Hundred Days,
(Waterloo) 1815, Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 -1858,
Takyu Forts and Pekin during the Second Chinese war of 1860
The Royal army Service Corps was
raised as the Royal Waggoners in 1794, changing to the Land Transport
Corps in1 1855 and to the Military train in 1856. In 1869 again changing
to Army Service Corp. and in 1918 to the Royal Army Service Corp.
The Victoria Cross has been won by 5
members of the corps. two during the Indian Mutiny the first two
being own by Farrier M Murphy (1831-1893_ later becoming Farrier Major and
Private S Morley (1839 - 1888 at Azimghur 15th April 1858. One in the Zulu
war and Basuto War and two during the First World war

The great land offensive by the 1st British Armoured Division during
the Gulf War was only made possible by the outstanding levels of logistic
support achieved by units of the Royal Corps of Transport, Royal Army
Ordnance Corps and the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers. Desert
Scorpions marks their exceptional role in Operation Granby and Operation
Desert Storm. dominating the foreground of this painting of a typical
resupply operation in the field are a Leyland DAF DROPS vehicle from 12
squadron, Royal Corps of Transport, and a Multiple Launch Rocket System
